The goal of Junior Congregation Family Service is to afford our Religious School students a solid understanding of the Shabbat morning service to help them prepare for their upcoming Bar/Bat Mitzvah and their role in the Jewish community.
Junior Congregation Family Services is an abbreviated Shabbat morning service. Our goal is to learn together, kids & adults. It is open to all ages, young & old. The children will be given numerous honors like opening/closing the ark and carrying the Torah. We are going to learn about different parts of our service, such as the Shema and Torah Service. We are going to learn traditions that go on within our service, like when to bend and bow during Aleinu. We are going to learn some songs like Zoo Gal Zoo. We are going to learn some Hebrew, such as parts of the body.
Our service will be on the first Saturday every month from October – April, with the exception of Thanksgiving weekend and December’s winter break. It will be held from 11:00am-12:00pm in the Beit Midrash. Parents, grandparents and friends are encouraged to attend our family friendly service with their youngster. Any children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult.
Parents are encouraged to join their children in Junior Congregation or participate in services in the main sanctuary.
Credit for attending Junior Congregation is also given for Shabbat service on such dates. You can see our attendance requirements here. Children who attend a certain amount of services can participate in our Incentive Program.
After services are over, everyone is invited to join the Kiddush luncheon following the regular services. Please RSVP to Barry, if you plan to stay for Kiddush lunch.
