Dear Parents,
We would like to welcome James Myricks, “Mr. M.” to our classroom. Mr. M and the children are already bonding nicely. He loves to play Legos, puzzles, trucks, basketball, and he’s just as excited about our new play dough as the rest of us!
Happy Birthday Elmo! He hosted quite a party on Tuesday. We sang to him, read to Elmo, ate cupcakes and invited Mrs. Winter’s class to join in the festivities. We also made Elmo faces, which are hanging in the hallway.
We talked about Groundhog’s Day. We painted groundhog shadows and read The Grouchy Groundhog. We made fresh play dough on Wednesday and read Blue Bus, Red Balloon. On Thursday we painted red on the easel and read the book Red. Friday we made square collages and read Perfect Square.
We exercised with Coach Ashley from Amazing Athletes on Monday. She kept up busy with stretching, jumping jacks, running, playing with footballs, tennis rackets, and a parachute for a whole half hour!
We brought home new books on Wednesday from the library. If you’d like to volunteer to read to us please sign up outside the classroom.
Happy 3rd Birthday Sana!
Next week we will begin talking about the farm and farm animals. Shabbat Shalom and have a great weekend!

My goodness, what a busy week it has been for our class!
We celebrated Teddy Bear Day on Wednesday, with all of our activities involving teddy bears. The children stringpainted and decorated adorable teddy bears, complete with googly eyes bows, hats, and buttons. We made delicious teddy bear cookies topped with yummy cinnamon and sugar, and then everyone designed a teddy bear hat to wear in class. The teddy bears that the children brought in to introduce to the class were absolutely precious. It was a “beary” good morning from beginning to end!
This week each child created a beautiful snowman, wearing a colorful hat and scarf of their choice, which they cut by themselves with a child’s safety scissor. Cotton, sequins, glitter, confetti, buttons, and large googly eyes gave the children the opportunity to design a snowman that was quite unique! These adorable snowmen are proudly displayed on the windows of our classroom for everyone to see.
We introduced the children to the letter “M” this week as they painted lots of bright yellow “moons” for this page of their alphabet book.
Everyone loved having Amazing Athletes come to our school on Monday. Coach Ashley taught the children many new skills through sports to build and improve both fine motor and gross motor skills.
Our class enjoyed taking out a book from our School Library on Wednesday.
Happy 4thBirthday to Aharsi!
Shabbat Shalom! Have a wonderful weekend!

Pre-K Weekly Newsletter
This week was very exciting for our class and many surprises were in store. We talked about the groundhog and if it will see his shadow. The class took predictions of what they thought and they graphed it. The children knew I do not like snow so they chanted for a long winter. The children predictions about the shadow were thought out carefully by the children, five said, “No” and one said, “Yes.
I definitely did not want him to see his shadow. Phil listened to my words and didn’t see his shadow. We will have an early spring. We also watched the groundhog seeing his shadow. We even read a book about a groundhog in library. Thank you to Mrs. McCormick for spending time with us in the library.
We also had a visitor during the Pledge of allegiance. The Statue of Liberty paid a visit.
The children had a great time in Amazing Athletes where they learned to throw a football and hit a tennis ball. Soon they will be ready for Superbowl and U.S. Open.
Then the class learned the letter N and had a nice time talking about it. We had a nighttime slumber party where we read bedtime stories, made galaxy night-time slime, came in our pajamas, and talked about the difference between night and day. The class learned about nocturnal animals and started working on a project to go along with it. We also made name necklaces. The show and tell was so much fun too. The class got to see my special show and tell Nikita.
Please send in your permission slips for our trip to see the Hungry Caterpillar.
Wednesday’s show and tell will be Letter O.
Have a great weekend

Monday: Curiosity Club – Mrs. Winter and Mrs. Schemo
This week the children created a beautiful dinosaur mural, complete with lots of colorful dinosaurs as well as dinosaur footprints. We learned a new word “extinct” because we know that dinosaurs no longer walk around the earth. The book Happy Birthday, Denny the Dinosaur provided lots of laughs for the children this week.
Wednesday: Passport to Adventure – Mrs. Winter and Mrs. Schemo
We have been very busy preparing for the Chinese New Year which begins on February 8th and lasts for 15 days. The children learned that the dragon roars in good luck for the New Year! We made beautiful and very colorful dragon puppets, had a Lion Dance parade to authentic Chinese music, and pretended to be monkeys because this is the New Year of the Monkey in China.
Thursday: Storybook Network – Mrs. Tilbor and Mrs. Shemo
We read the book Corduroy by Don Freeman. We discussed the book and then made our own Corduroy even with the button missing. We then played some learning games.
Motion and Potions: Mrs. Tilbor and Mrs. Shemo
We made penguin pops and talked about penguins. They were delicious and the children loved them.
