Last night, the Congregation COVID-19 Task Force met in its continuing role of providing advice on keeping our members, staff and visitors safe. The Task Force continues to recommend that everyone who is eligible get vaccinated. In addition, they strongly recommend that everyone wear masks, when practical. Further, we ask that everyone be respectful of people who choose to wear masks and people who choose to not wear masks. To the degree that it is practical, keeping social distance is helpful, too. Please reach out to any member of the Task Force, including Lesley Lewkowicz and me, with questions.
By the time you read this, we should just about have reached our goal for the Burn the Mortgage campaign. Thank you to each of you for making your pledges and paying them. Your generosity will allow the Congregation to continue to offer new and better programs going forward. Please join the committee that Gary Wesalo is chairing that will recommend to the Board how we use the (approximately) $200,000 that would have been used to make mortgage payments from our 2022/2023 operating budget. Please look for Gary’s notice elsewhere in this month’s HaKol and/or contact Gary or me with your interest in helping to shape our future.
Lastly, you will be receiving your invitation to our Gala Under the Stars for Saturday, June 25, 2022. One of the features of the Gala is that you get to recognize who your Star is. Much more information appears at the beginning of this issue of HaKol. Personally, I am looking forward to partying with you for the first time in three years. You all know that we have great celebrations here at Congregation B’nai Tikvah.
My sincere hope is that you will share your ideas with any member of the Board. The worst ideas are those that are never brought to light. That may be a poor paraphrase of all-time hockey great Wayne Gretzky’s comment, “You miss 100% of the shots that you don’t take.” Reach out; it could be fun.
