Miss Jo visits our school every other Monday for yoga and Zumba classes. The children love moving their bodies along to the music.
Coach Alyssa from Amazing Athletes visits our school every other Monday for sports fun in the gym. Throwing, catching, and kicking balls are skills that are worked on with lots of games. The children try out soccer, lacrosse, basketball, and other sports. Stretching and gymnastics also are incorporated into each lesson.
We have a real lending library, run by our parent volunteers. Our students are issued their own library cards, and every two weeks they visit the library to choose a book to check out and take home. Parents, grandparents and caregivers are invited into school on library days as special “surprise” readers for the classes. Our library encourages reading at home, promotes a love of books, and teaches responsibility for returning the books back to school.
We visit places in the community to give our students wide exposure to many experiences. Field trips are always very exciting days! We have visited farms for apple picking and strawberry picking, theaters to view plays for young children, parks, and more.
Rainy days and winter weather are no problem at the JCC Early Childhood Center! Our full-sized indoor gym provides plenty of space for children to run and be active in even the worst weather. It is also the perfect setting for weekly specials such as yoga, dance, and soccer.
Our outdoor play area features colorful, age-appropriate structures so children can climb, slide, explore and stretch their bodies and their imaginations. We have gardens for hands-on learning, and water play during our summer camp program.
