CantorsCantor Joseph Malovany in Concert. It Was a Great Day!
On Sunday December 13th our shul was filled with magnificent music, warm memories and a soaring spiritual presence, thanks to Cantor Joseph Malovany.
I’m so pleased that the concert was so well received by the capacity audience. We floated through an afternoon that was reminiscent of the old days and a revelation to so many who had the opportunity to experience classical cantorial music for the first time.

Seeing all of the happy faces after the concert was just so satisfying and validating. As I’ve written to you before, there are many styles of Jewish music, classical, cantorial, Jewish rock, choral, klezmer, reggae, big band and folk. It is my mission to present them all to you and for each of us to find the genre that motivates your spiritual journey. We are so blessed to have benefactors like Dr. Naomi Vilko, Cindy and David Teicher, Aaron Rosloff, of blessed memory, who imagined Rejoice, and Mark and Judy Roller, all of whom have all enabled our artistic expression at B’nai Tikvah.

I love them all, as witnessed by my rather large and eclectic collection of cds, records, tapes (yes, I still have all of those mixed tapes) and ever growing digital collection. When it comes down to it, the style I love best is folk rock, with lots of acoustic guitars.

With this in mind I am trying to find the perfect group that will be satisfying to so many of us. On May 22nd L’dor Vador will return to the B’nai Tikvah bima.I am hopeful that I will be able to confirm the artist very soon. As I’m writing, I am awaiting a phone call from one great group who are talented and the coolest Jewish music. I’ll let you know if it works out and share some of their music as soon as possible.
