Derived from the Hebrew word for "friend", Havurot are groups of
about ten or less families that meet regukarly to share life cycle
events and participate in educational or social activities related
to the advancement of Jewish living.

Each group determines its own focus and activities.

(Actively seeking new members.)
Open We are an "Empty Nesters Group" of 9 great couples, so far, who have children who are in college, married, and or married with young children of their own. We get together monthly for social fun and entertainment such as Movie Nights, Dinner & Shows, BBQ's, and Pot Luck Dinners. We're also planning a Music Night, Hanukkah Party, Museum Trips, and other exciting events. Robin Kessler
Ellen Schneider
Closed * We are a few families with young children (6 months - 7 years). We plan to meet at least monthly (sometimes with the kids and sometimes without). Some of our plans include Shabbat dinner, Sukkah visiting, matzah making, and barbeque. The parents are getting to know each other and the kids are getting along great! We are looking forward to establishing good friendships and close bonds. Beth Schurman

We're 6 families encompassing 16 children. Activities have included visiting the Chabad Matzah factory, Sukkah celebrations, and viewing Jewish oriented films in theatres and at home. Some events, such as Shabbat dinners and Israeli dancing, are held at the synagogue and open to the congregation.

(No longer accepting new families, but willing to discuss how we've managed to stay together since 1994.)

* Closed does not denote a "clique".
The size of the group is limited to what the members can comfortably accommodate when meeting in each other's homes.

New groups are always forming. Watch the eGroup and CBTnews lists for details or contact any of the facilitators for advice.
